Le Croissant

Today I did something I had always dreamt of doing -- taking a cooking class in Paris.  I learned how to make croissants, pain au chocolate, and almond croissants.  And let me tell you, there is a reason croissants are so delicious -- lots and lots of BEURRE {butter}.  Thankfully they are so rich that you aren't tempted to gobble down the whole tray.  The class was through La Cuisine Paris, a cooking school conveniently located right along the Seine, that teaches a bunch of different classes in English.  I met some really nice people, learned a lot, and most importantly had fun doing it.  From now on, you can refer to me as Julia Child s'il vous plait!

After the class was over I decided to venture FAR out to the west via metro to check out the Musee Marmottan Monet, which was located in a beautiful old French mansion.  The museum features many of Monet's greatest works {Sunrise, NymphĂ©as, etc.} along with a rotating exhibition of other famous European artists.  I have always loved Monet so this museum was a complete dream to me.  Plus, it was really nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours.
 {The making of croissants, pain au chocolat, and almond croissants.  My apologies for the poor photo quality, I took most on my iPhone because I was covered in flour and didn't want to get close to my nice camera.  The final product was delicious!}

Enjoy your weekend!
