Holiday Gift Guide 2014 :: For Her

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  We were busy looking at houses {!!!} but were able to find time to do a little Christmas shopping :)  I pulled together some pretty picks for the ladies on your list including my favorite lipgloss, an adorable bucket bag, and the perfect parka {HIGH on my wish list}.  Have you started your Christmas shopping?  Or are you waiting for Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales?  Personally I don't like to brave the crowds, but I do enjoy doing a little shopping on Friday morning from the comfort of my own bed :)

Fashion :: What I'm Loving Right Now

This past weekend we were blessed with some absolutely gorgeous weather - sunny, cool, and crisp - which has completely put me into the fall mindset.  Sweaters, jeans, and boots can't come soon enough!  Until then, I have rounded up some of my current faves including a classic quilted jacket and the coolest Stella McCartney mirrored sunglasses {first seen on Sarah of A House in the Hills here}.  Cheers to a great Wednesday!

Travel Style :: The Greenbrier

Whenever I am planning a vacation I find it very hard to resist the urge to give away all my clothes and buy an entirely new wardrobe.  It is that much more challenging when the destination is somewhere as stylish as The Greenbrier {just look at the interiors!}  I pulled together two looks to wear in at the resort...one for a day of Mint Juleps, facials, shopping, and strolling through their immaculate gardens, and one for a night of dinner in the Main Dining Room and drinks at Twelve Oaks

Inspired by The Greenbrier's punchy colors, bold prints and southern hospitality, I focused on standout pieces that have a preppy twist.  I'll definitely be bringing my beloved Nikon D5200 Digital SLR to capture the memories, and will be wearing pieces from my favorite All-American brands such as Kate Spade, JCrew, and Tory Burch.  I love this retro-inspired swimsuit from ASOS and have been seriously lusting over Kate Spade's gorgeous lemon prints for the spring.  But, I need to make sure I don't break the bank...because I definitely need to save some money for the top-knotch shopping at The Greenbrier {think Tory Burch, Milly, DVF, etc.}  I can't wait!

Fashion Inspired By :: Thai Sunsets

First of all, thank you so much for your sweet and helpful comments on Monday's post.  Putting it out in writing made me that much more excited...and fingers crossed, but I think our trip to Thailand in January is most likely a go!  I have been absolutely giddy thinking about it and am a little embarrassed at the number of hours I have already spent researching our trip {looking at my search history is nothing short of scary...can you say OCD?!}  One thing I have been dreaming about are the sunsets which I have heard are some of the best in the world.  I love how sunsets can be completely different depending on where you are, and since neither Ryan nor myself have been to Asia I think we will be in for a welcome treat!  Inspired by the hot pinks, sea greens, and dusty blues...I have pulled together some of my favorite looks for your closet.  Enjoy!

Fashion :: Under $100

Ryan and I are talking about taking a big trip near the end of the year {more on that later}, so subsequently I am in hardcore saving mode. While I would always choose travel over material items {because I truly believe the mantra that "travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer"}, sometimes I feel the need for a little wardrobe refresh. So, I have pulled together a bunch of my favorite pieces all under $100 including this gorgeous marble-print dress that looks like it could easily cost 5x more than it is, this fun pouch that reminds me of our trip to Hawaii, and this Equipment top {a whopping 65% off}. Now I can save for our trip and pick up a few new goodies for spring!

Fashion :: Neutrals

Equipment Washed Silk Top // Scalloped Mini Bag // BaubleBar Crystal Shard Pendant Necklace // JCrew Silk Shantung Cropped Pant //  JCrew Merino Lattice-Sleeve Sweater // Lemon Embroidered Straw Fedora // Rachel Gunnard Studs // Joie A la Plage Sandals // Diane von Furstenberg Blazer // Zoe Karssen Merci T-Shirt // Loeffler Randall Buckle Sandal // Ban.do Bobby Pin Set // JCrew Linen City Mini // Gucci Soho Small Patent Leather Bag // Deborah Lippman Nail Lacquer 'Before He Cheats' // Kate Spade Cedar Street Maise Bag // Elizabeth Cole Aeryn Earrings // Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Palette 'Nude Glow' //  JCrew Swiss Dot Tuxedo Shirt

As much as I love color, I have to admit there is something about pale neutrals that feel so breezy and effortless.  These pieces all have that easy elegance that will make you reach for them again and again on those days where you feel like you 'just don't have anything to wear.'  My favorite neutral is a light ballerina blush, and this polish and this dress hit it spot-on.  I'm totally lusting over this adorable scalloped bag {less than $40!}, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, this patent leather Gucci bag.  Happy shopping!

PS - If you haven't entered to win a gorgeous print of your choice from Hannah Gentiles, don't forget to do so here!

Fashion :: Fragrant Florals

It's officially March which means 1) spring is less than a month away and 2) we are heading to the beach in just a few weeks!  My trip to North Carolina last weekend made it official...I am ready for warm weather, green grass, sunshine, and flowers.  I nearly went into cardiac arrest at the sight of a flowering tree - it has just been one of those kind of winters.  Although while I write this post there is a white blanket of snow covering everything outside my window, I can't help buy daydream about all things fragrant, colorful, and flowery.  From tiny feminine Liberty of London floral prints to dark dramatic florals reminiscent of Emily's gorgeous bathroom wallpaper to whimsical floral appliqués, there is something for everyone!

Fashion :: Candy Crush

pastel-outfit

Lizzie Fortunato Safari Clutch // Tiffany & Co Chalcedony Earrings // Karen Walker Pink Sunglasses // Heidi Klein Bikini // JCrew Mint Spike Necklace // Tibi Full Skirt // T By Alexander Wang Shift Dress // Salt Tasting Dish // Lollia Handcreme // Acrylic Heart Pendant // Lucite Tray // MSGM Two-Tone Top // Mint Sandal // Repetto Ballet Flats // Kate Spade iPhone Case // Elizabeth and James 'New York' T-Shirt // Emma Pencil Pouch // Bracelet // Camisole and Short // Hair Comb // Crystal Drop Earrings //  Loeffler Randall Citrus Printed Bag // Deborah Lippman Nail Polish {Tip Toe Through the Tulips} // JCrew Embellished Sweatshirt

I have always, always, always loved color.  At one point a few years ago my preference towards all things bright was so extreme that I realized I actually did not own one single piece of neutral outerwear {but I did have coats in yellow, indigo, coral, pink...}.  Since that point I have grown to appreciate neutrals {especially in the winter} and have invested in black and tweed jackets, however I know that my eye will always be drawn to pieces of the sugary-sweet variety.  Because pastels are trending in a very serious way this year, I think it is the perfect opportunity to treat myself to a few more girly chic pieces {especially this clutch, this shirt, and this swimsuit}.  Because even when they are no longer "in vogue," pastels will always have a very special place in my heart.

Fashion :: Valentine's Day Style

Happy Monday loves!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  We went to a basketball game on Friday {the things you do for love} and Saturday went out with friends for all you can eat sushi {dangerous, I know} but other than that we simply spent the weekend cuddled on the couch with Yoda and had a Game of Thrones marathon {we are completely addicted}.

Ever since I was a little girl I have always loved Valentine's Day.  Any excuse to eat chocolates, decorate with pink and red hearts, and most importantly tell the ones you care about most how much they mean to you is fine by me.  It is also a great way to brighten up the long winter, which at this point always feels like it will never end {especially this year!}  So, in celebration of all things love, this week will be all about Valentine's Day...clever right?!  Here are some of my favorite picks to add a little girly, sparkly, lovey-dovey goodness to your life :)

Outfit :: Thanksgiving Dinner

I absolutely love Thanksgiving.  I love that it is the official beginning of the Holiday Season.  I love being able to celebrate with family and friends and not have to worry about finding the *perfect* gift for everyone on my list.  I love the food {see recipe for the BEST Apple Pie, Ever here}.  But mostly, I love having a day that reminds us to remember how blessed we really are.  And this year I have a lot to be thankful for.

I like to be comfortable on Thanksgiving but also still look fun and festive.  I think this outfit with it's jewel tones, luxurious textures like cashmere and tweed, and sparkly extras is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Outfit :: Ice Skating in Central Park

Happy Friday dears!  I am in full-on vacation planning mode, getting ready for my six-day trip to New York City!  I am especially excited to go ice skating in Central Park - Ryan has never been to NYC before and I can't think of a more magical time for him to visit than the holiday season.  I always try to carry-on when traveling domestically, so packing will definitely be a bit of a challenge.  But I think a little faux-leather swing skirt paired with a festive fair isle sweater, cozy accessories, and a lady-like black wool coat {that by the way is only $42!} would be a perfect look for skating hand-in-hand in the park.  Bring on the snow!
