Honeymoon Style :: Lake Como

It's Monday, and I'm busy dreaming about our next warm-weather getaway - our honeymoon! Ever since seeing Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones in 2002, I've dreamt about visiting the beautiful Lake Como that was featured prominently in this film and in Casino Royale in 2006. While we have been to Italy several times, we just never seemed to have the time {or budget} to visit the famed lake...always hoping that someday we would go back for our honeymoon. So, we're doing just that and spending three days at the beautiful Grand Hotel Tremezzo.

Cold Shoulder

While I wouldn't consider myself a very trendy person, every so often a look really resonates with me. One of the biggest trends on the spring/summer 2016 runways {and my personal favorite} is off-the-shoulder tops and dresses. I love how these tops feel relaxed yet feminine, without showing too much skin or feeling too bohemian. My absolute favorite is this adorable striped number by Mara Hoffman {how cute are the matching shorts?!} which I think would be absolutely perfect for our honeymoon in September.

Honeymoon Style: Santorini

Although our honeymoon is still six and a half months away {I'm not counting or anything...} it's never too early to start shopping! No matter how diligent I am in preparing for a trip, I always seem to come to the realization about half way through the vacation that I packed way too much. Because we will be staying in three different destinations on our honeymoon it's especially important to me that I bring pieces that can multitask to ensure that unpacking and repacking my suitcase is a breeze. After all, the last thing I'm going to want to do is spend an hour in our room trying to squeeze everything back into my suitcase.

For the Little Ones

Is it just me, or is shopping for babies infinitely more fun than shopping for yourself? I'm pretty sure that the smaller things get the more exponentially adorable they become. While right now the only little one we could dream of having in our lives is Yoda, we're at the age where we start transitioning from wedding showers to baby showers - and I for one absolutely love having an excuse to shop for little ones.

Holiday Gift Guide 2014 :: For Her

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  We were busy looking at houses {!!!} but were able to find time to do a little Christmas shopping :)  I pulled together some pretty picks for the ladies on your list including my favorite lipgloss, an adorable bucket bag, and the perfect parka {HIGH on my wish list}.  Have you started your Christmas shopping?  Or are you waiting for Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales?  Personally I don't like to brave the crowds, but I do enjoy doing a little shopping on Friday morning from the comfort of my own bed :)

Fashion :: Season of Sparkle

The beginning of November kicks off the official start of my holiday season.  While it may be a little early to listen to Christmas music {guilty!} it's most certainly not too soon to break out some holiday sparkle.  Because the next two months are filled with dinners, concerts, and parties I've pulled together some of my favorite little goodies I'd love to help me ring in this holiday season.  What about you?  Are you already overflowing with holiday spirit?  Or are you trying to savor the last days of autumn?  I'm somewhere in between the two :)

Fashion :: Get Cozy

As much as I love warm weather, for me, fall is the absolute best.  The cool crisp weather, the vibrant foliage, the comfort food, camping, the fact that the holiday season is just around the corner, and of course - the clothes.  On weekends I love nothing more than cuddling up in cozy sweaters, warm cashmere accessories, and chunky boots.  Of course - a good candle and book are a necessity, as is a preppy blanket and {most importantly} a dog!

Fashion :: Twelve Boots for Fall

Happy October!  If there's one thing I love about this month {asides from the crisp weather, the vibrant fall foliage, the comfort food, the pumpkin patch...ok the list goes on and on} it's being able to wear sweaters & boots every single day.  A couple of weeks ago I rounded up some of my favorite sweaters for fall, so today I wanted to share with you some great new boots.  Whether you like ankle or over the knee, flat or heeled, cut-out or not, there's something for everyone.  Happy shopping!

Fashion :: Sweater Weather

Is it possible to have too many sweaters?  Personally I can never have enough as I essentially live in them from October through March.  They are a staple that can easily be dressed up or down.  Plus, I feel like the majority are classic pieces that never go out of style - some of my favorite sweaters are five + years old.  There are a lot of sweaters that have caught my eye this season, but I have rounded up fourteen of my favorites including this adorable bow sweater, this Tibi leopard print sweater {SUCH A STEAL!}, and this cable knit sweater which has me dreaming about cozying up by the fire with a book.  I don't know about you, but I'm ready for sweater weather!

Fashion :: What I'm Loving Right Now

This past weekend we were blessed with some absolutely gorgeous weather - sunny, cool, and crisp - which has completely put me into the fall mindset.  Sweaters, jeans, and boots can't come soon enough!  Until then, I have rounded up some of my current faves including a classic quilted jacket and the coolest Stella McCartney mirrored sunglasses {first seen on Sarah of A House in the Hills here}.  Cheers to a great Wednesday!

Art :: Where I See Fashion

Well hello there!  I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Since it looks like this past weekend is going to be my last quiet and relaxing one for quite some time I took full advantage of it by enjoying lazy mornings reading in bed, hitting the farmers market, walking Yoda outside, and visiting some local shops {I'm on the hunt for a new bicycle}.  All in all it was just what I needed.

One of my favorite online sources for inspiration is the Tumblr account Where I See Fashion.  Fashion student Bianca Luini perfectly matches fashion to photography, art, and architecture that share complimentary color palettes, concepts, and structures.  I have rounded up some of my favorite WISF pairings below, enjoy!

Fashion :: My Favorite Bag

As an anniversary gift, Ryan gave me the Tory Burch Robinson Mini Double Zip Tote, and suffice it to say I am absolutely head over heels {with the bag...and of course Ryan}.  I have been carrying it non-stop and it's by far my favorite bag that I own.  It's large enough to fit my laptop for work meetings yet small enough that it doesn't overwhelm me {and become stuffed with a miscellaneous accoutrement of books, sweaters, makeup, etc.}  It's dressy enough to wear out at night yet casual enough to wear with jeans and flats.  I love the little details like the removable cross-body strap, luggage tag, and the understated Tory Burch logo.  The structured shape and gorgeous saffiano leather have the feel of the Prada Saffiano Lux Double-Zip Tote, but for about 1/5 the price it's much more budget friendly.  Highly recommended!

Fashion :: Labor Day Style

What are your plans for Labor Day?  Do you have any fun getaways in-store?  Sadly we do not, but I'm still not quite ready to mentally transition to my fall wardrobe yet.  Since thankfully we still have about another month of warm temps in store, I have rounded up some of my favorite picks for your Labor Day getaway {or simply prolonging summer as long as possible}...enjoy!

Fashion :: Pre-Fall Picks

Well hello there!  Before I get to today's post I wanted to sincerely thank each and every one of you for the beyond kind messages and advice you gave me yesterday.  I truly missed the blogging community and couldn't wipe the smile off my face all day as I continued to receive such sweet & thoughtful comments.  I've said it before but I'll say it again -- you guys are amazing and are the reason I want to keep up with this little blog.  From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Although it took me awhile, I am now completely on-board with pre-fall fashion.  Before this week I couldn't even bare to think about cooler weather {thus totally passing on the Nordstrom Anniversary sale...fail}, but one cool day has gotten me very excited about bringing back layers, jewel tones, and luscious silks and cashmeres.  What is it about seasons that perpetually have us looking forward to the next?  However, as much as I love this leather, wool, and shearling bag and am excited to finally try a merlot lip, after the brutal winter we had this past year summer can stay as long as she wants in my book!

Travel Style :: Summer Sales

Steven Alan Eloise Dress {Additional 25% off with '25MORE'} // Madewell Mariam Sandal {30% off with 'WEARNOW'} // JCrew Polka Dot Scallop Pocket Short {Additional 30% off with 'HISUMMER'} // JCrew Silk Cami {30% off with 'HISUMMER'} //  Madewell Dylan Convertible Tote // Zimmermann Underwire Bikini // JCrew Textured Straw Hat {Additional 30% off with 'HISUMMER'} //  Madewell Chambray Shorts // Tory Burch Robinson Perforated Mini Bag // Prada Wayfarer Sunglasses // Crystal Mobile Earrings {Additional 30% off with 'HISUMMER'} // Turkish Beach Towel

While summer has just officially started {YIPPIE!!!}, summer sales are already in full swing!  If you have any vacations planned over the next few months now is a great time to pick up some warm weather pieces at a steal.  I personally know that I will be purchasing the majority of my Thailand wardrobe over the next few months...because even though we don't leave until February the selection will be limited and prices will be sky high {thanks to "resort" season}.  I'm especially loving this beach towel, these chambray shorts, this tote, and this easy breezy dress.  Be sure to stop by JCrew and Shopbop, both of which are offering additional discounts on their already marked down items this week.  Happy shopping!

Travel Style :: My Birthday List

Madewell Chambray Sunstich Tunic Dress // Prada Brow Defining Cat's Eye Sunglasses // Sam Edelman 'Trina' Sandal {Buff} // Traveler's Choice 3-Piece Hardside Spinner Set //  JCrew Carrie Cami {Spearmint} // Terrain Linen Striped Tablecloth // Longchamp 'Large Le Pliage' Tote {Black} // Rose Gold Black Diamond Earrings // Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Face Polish // Kindle Paperwhite // Jonathan Adler Kindle Cover // Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment {Rose} // JCrew Arrow Ikat Pull-On Pant

It's my birthday month {yippie!}, and this year I have pulled together a practical birthday list to help me pack for my upcoming beach vacations to St. Maarten and Thailand.  A few lightweight pieces that I can wear and re-wear will be key.  These breezy pants can easily go from beach to dinner, this silk top will be a great way to dress up while staying cool, and I can see myself absolutely living in this dress.  I have been obsessing over these Prada sunnies for months.  The metallic heel on these sandals makes them a tad fancier, but still comfortable enough to wear every day.  I am in desperate need of new luggage and this black hard side set seems like it will do the trick.  For the plane and days at the beach I think a classic Longchamp tote will be perfect.  Whenever I travel I always seem to pack about 5 pounds of books...but to save space I'm finally going to be converting to a Kindle {how cute is this Jonathan Adler cover?!}  That plus my new favorite bathing suit, and I should be good to go!

Travel Style :: Beat the Heat

NIGHT: BaubleBar Beaded Fan Collar // Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain {Reckless Pink} // NARS Illuminator {Copacabana} // Maria Black Darling Double Ring // Rory Becca Deep V-Back Dress //    Diptyque 'Do Son' Eau de Perfume // Tory Burch 'Molly' Clutch // Ariel Gordon Jewelry Love Knot Ring // Aveda 'Pure Abundance' Hair Potion // Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Palette

Good morning!  I'm guest posting today on 702 Park Project about my favorite rooms inspired by The Greenbrier, so be sure to check it out {and while you're there, take a look at pictures of Sara's gorgeous historic home renovation...love love love it!}

I have two warm-weather vacations on the horizon - a weeklong trip to St. Martin with my family followed by a two and a half week trip to Thailand next winter {yes, I know it is still 9 months away...but there is no harm in getting the planning started early!} - which means I need to start strategically planning what I want to pack.  Both destinations will be hot hot hot, so I'm thinking that lightweight, breezy pieces will be best for me.  Since luggage space will be an issue {especially in Thailand where I would prefer to pack as little as possible}, I want to make sure that everything I bring can be dressed up or down and can be rolled up into a little ball without being completely destroyed.

For daytime exploration, lunch by the sea, and island hopping I plan on picking up this simple cotton shirtdress that can be easily worn many different ways.  I will be squeezing in my Longchamp tote and a Calyspo St. Barth hat, both of which can be be folded into my suitcase.  And of course since we will be in the hot tropical sun I will be loading up on SPF.  I'm loving these Sam Edelman sandals and can see them easily going from day to night in a flash.

For nighttime cocktails and music on the beach I'll be wearing light and airy slip dresses like this little Rory Becca number.  Makeup will be minimal...think dewy skin, neutral eyes, and a glossy lip.  I'll be sticking to my favorite vacation scent, diptyque's Do Son.  Add a statement necklace, a tropical clutch, and voluminous hair and I'll be good to go!

Travel Style :: The Greenbrier

Whenever I am planning a vacation I find it very hard to resist the urge to give away all my clothes and buy an entirely new wardrobe.  It is that much more challenging when the destination is somewhere as stylish as The Greenbrier {just look at the interiors!}  I pulled together two looks to wear in at the resort...one for a day of Mint Juleps, facials, shopping, and strolling through their immaculate gardens, and one for a night of dinner in the Main Dining Room and drinks at Twelve Oaks

Inspired by The Greenbrier's punchy colors, bold prints and southern hospitality, I focused on standout pieces that have a preppy twist.  I'll definitely be bringing my beloved Nikon D5200 Digital SLR to capture the memories, and will be wearing pieces from my favorite All-American brands such as Kate Spade, JCrew, and Tory Burch.  I love this retro-inspired swimsuit from ASOS and have been seriously lusting over Kate Spade's gorgeous lemon prints for the spring.  But, I need to make sure I don't break the bank...because I definitely need to save some money for the top-knotch shopping at The Greenbrier {think Tory Burch, Milly, DVF, etc.}  I can't wait!

Art :: Annie Leibovitz for Vogue

Sometimes we just need to get away, and what better than to be transported into one of Annie Leibovitz's visual fairy tales for Vogue?  Whether it's Kirsten Dunst as the ill-fated French Queen Marie Antoinette, model Natalia Vodianova portraying 'Alice in Wonderland' alongside a slew of high fashion designers {Karl Lagerfeld and Tom Ford?  Sign me up!}, or Andrew Garfield and a model that could easily be a young Grace Coddington channeling 'Hansel and Gretel,' her images are nothing short of magical.  I hope you enjoy getting lost in the images as much as I do!
