I've had this photo saved for years, so when we moved into our new house last January I decided to use it as inspiration for our downstairs guest bedroom. We had this wallpaper installed {which I am in love with} and still need a few finishing touches to pull the room together. While I am leaning towards a wood nightstand, this industrial piece reminds me so much of the one in the inspiration image, plus I love how it contrasts with the feminine wallpaper.

Although our honeymoon is still six and a half months away {I'm not counting or anything...} it's never too early to start shopping! No matter how diligent I am in preparing for a trip, I always seem to come to the realization about half way through the vacation that I packed way too much. Because we will be staying in three different destinations on our honeymoon it's especially important to me that I bring pieces that can multitask to ensure that unpacking and repacking my suitcase is a breeze. After all, the last thing I'm going to want to do is spend an hour in our room trying to squeeze everything back into my suitcase.

This year at my office we had a pool running to see which color Pantone would pick as their color of the year. My colleagues picked colors from jade to raspberry, but no one anticipated that they would choose not one but two colors! And I have to say - I absolutely love their choices.

The uncertainty of our living arrangements {Will we stay in Indianapolis?  If so, will we move into a different house?} has me on a total budgetary freeze when it comes to purchasing home furnishings.  But, that doesn't mean a girl can't continue to add an obscene amount of goodies to her various online shopping carts, does it?  We are in serious need of some new sheets, but because we also want to buy a new bed I definitely will be holding off until we are in a {somewhat} more permanent living situation.  I'm loving these sheets from Serena & Lily and this bed in white.  This acrylic tripod easel seems like the coolest way to display art, and speaking of I really want to get my hands on one of Max Wanger's beyond dreamy prints.  And seriously, how fun is this Acapulco chair?  Doesn't it just scream summer?  What are you dreaming about adding to your home?

DIY :: Mason Jar Snow Globes

Can you believe Christmas is only two weeks away?  I have {for the most part} finished up my Christmas shopping, but I'm sure I will stumble across a few more goodies too sweet to pass up.  Today I want to share with you my absolute favorite holiday DIY, ever.  A few years ago while shopping at Anthropologie I noticed these beautiful mason jar snow globes.  I imagined how beautiful they would look in a grouping on my mantle..but then I saw the price tag.  $28-$40 dollars for one snow globe seemed a bit absurd to me.  So, after a little of research I found this DIY online and knew I had to give it a shot.  I am happy to say they were so easy and turned out absolutely beautiful...which in my book is the perfect DIY!  Directions:

Mason Jar Snow Globes

YOU WILL NEED:

Small trees {I bought a whole bag of them for $11 at Michaels}

Mason jars of various sizes {or any other jars, like a salt shaker}

Little ornaments, etc. you may want to add

Pine Cones, Glitter, and a glue gun

INSTRUCTIONS:

Simply hot glue the trees to the bottom of the jar’s lid along with pincones, ornaments, etc.   Add ALOT of glitter!  Either glue or screw the lid back on the jar and ta-da!

Good morning my dears!  I hope your week has been absolutely fabulous so far.  This past month has been a nice change of pace in that we have actually been in town for the majority of our weekends, which means plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful snow, try new restaurants, catch up with friends and family, and curl up on the couch with a cup of tea, a cozy blanket, and good book {my two most recent reads being "Atonement" and "The Great Gatsby", one of my all-time favorites that I have read at least four times}.  Here's what I have been up to...

Gift Ideas: Anthropologie

One of my favorite go-to stores for gifts is Anthropologie.  It has such a unique and well-curated collection of books, decor, and housewares which are sure to please even the most discerning person on your list.  Some of my favorite gifts are below:

 

Row 1: The most adorable measuring cups ever {what's not to love about hedgehoges?}.  A iPhone dock made out of driftwood that has been picked up off the coast of Maine, perfect for any guy on your list.  Handmade bookends that look like miniature forests {also available with a dusting of fresh snow}.  A chevron picture frame made of wood and bone.

Row 2: The infamous Capri Blue Mercury Glass Jar Candle {I literally hoard these candles, they smell amazing and the jar turns into a lovely little vase after burning through the candle}.  A wonderful cookbook from award-winning food blogger Beatrice Peltre which is inspired by her childhood in France and love for healthy eating.  The perfect guidebook to Paris for the creative in your life by Janelle McCulloch {I recently brought this book with me to Paris and discovered so many gorgeous galleries, hidden passageways, tiny antique stores, and inspiring gardens}.  A jewelry box made of mismatched drawers and vintage knobs.

Row 3: A golden French Press that is too pretty to keep hidden in your cabinets.  A whimsical piece of wall art by Rebecca Rebouche.  A sustainable cheese dome with history {the glass dome was made of pieces of broken antique glass that was melted and blown into cast iron bolds; the base and handles are crafted of reclaimed, 19th century European timber}.  A monogrammed mug {perfect with a jar of loose leaf tea, this being one of my favorites}.

Row 4: A giant golden wishbone, perfect on-top of a stack of gorgeous coffee table books.  For the Julia Child devotee, a set of six steak knives from the infamous French cutlery designers Laguiole.  A lomography camera for the photography junkie.  A hand-crafted bicycle by the California-based Linus Bikes, inspired by French bicycle design of the 1950's.
