A few weeks ago Chairish, the world's first online consignment shop for the design obsessed, reached out to me to see if I'd be interested in styling one of their rugs for an upcoming post. We're in the process of looking at houses so it was a no-brainer for me! It was hard to pick a favorite rug, but when I came across this gorgeous distressed oushak rug I was absolutely smitten. I love the classic patina and the muted color palette. Pair it with refined neutrals, distressed leather, and antique art for an elegant and cozy space.

Interiors :: An 18th Century Sag Harbor House Tour
When I came across this home on The Plumed Nest last week I just knew I had to share. The cozy 18th century Sag Harbor home of interior designer Ari Heckman and his partner Ethan Feinstein {which conveniently is next door to Feinstein's parent's home} seems like the perfect place to cuddle up next to a roaring fire and sip hot cocoa. I love the wide planked floors, wood beams, bright and airy palette, and contemporary art collection. For the full home tour you can visit the original article in Lonny.

Interiors :: A Traditional Chic Home Tour
Get ready to feast your eyes on this beautiful home designed by Irene of designstiles. The traditional home is filled with elegant textiles, perfectly patinaed vintage rugs and mirrors, and a healthy dose of feminine glamour - all tied together with a lovely neutral palette {plus a few splashes of color of course} that makes the home feel elegant while being immensely relaxed and livable. I especially love the wallpapered powder room, custom designed vanity, and the too cute for words nursery. Read more about the home and design process here and see even more photos here.

Interiors :: Michelle Smith's Manhattan Home
Last week we took a look inside of Michelle Smith's chic Sag Harbor cottage, so today I wanted to share with you her equally lovely Greenwich Village home. And let me tell you - it does not disappoint. I love how Smith seems to always find the perfect balance between causal and refined, rustic and feminine - creating a space that is both incredibly sophisticated while remaining utterly livable. Want to see more? Check out Smith's interview with One Kings Lane here.

Interiors :: Colleen Locke's Nashville Home
I recently stumbled across Interior Designer Colleen Locke's Nashville home in domino, and let's just say it was love at first sight. The combination of great architecture, light and airy spaces, pops of gold, mixture of traditional pieces and rustic antiques, and a just a dash of modernity is spot-on. While I love every room...I'd have to say the kitchen and bedroom are my favorite. Can you even imagine cooking dinner every night on that gorgeous range then drifting to sleep under that beautiful chandelier? What a dream!

Home Tour :: A Vintage Harlem Brownstone
Ok, I just have to share with you this beyond gorgeous Harlem Brownstone photographed by Petra Bindel for Elle Decor UK. I first stumbled upon it via SF Girl by Bay and absolutely fell in love with the dreamy muted palette, stunning architecture, and perfectly curated assortment of vintage finds. It's all beautiful...but I'd have to say my favorite space is the living room. The antique mantle is perfection!

The uncertainty of our living arrangements {Will we stay in Indianapolis? If so, will we move into a different house?} has me on a total budgetary freeze when it comes to purchasing home furnishings. But, that doesn't mean a girl can't continue to add an obscene amount of goodies to her various online shopping carts, does it? We are in serious need of some new sheets, but because we also want to buy a new bed I definitely will be holding off until we are in a {somewhat} more permanent living situation. I'm loving these sheets from Serena & Lily and this bed in white. This acrylic tripod easel seems like the coolest way to display art, and speaking of I really want to get my hands on one of Max Wanger's beyond dreamy prints. And seriously, how fun is this Acapulco chair? Doesn't it just scream summer? What are you dreaming about adding to your home?

My Life :: Parisian Treasures
I hope all of you have enjoyed this week's posts on all things Parisian. Personally, I have loved being able to reminisce on the time I have spent in my favorite city in the world. Traveling is my absolute favorite way to pick-up special treasures for my closet or the home. I love seeing a piece and being reminded of the memory associated with it...I still sigh every time I spray my Diptyque and Le Labo perfumes as they bring back the magical experiences of buying them in Paris. Today I wanted to share with you four of my most treasured goodies from my Parisian travels.
The first is my beloved Chanel brooch. I have always loved Chanel and have thought about buying a brooch for years. Last time I was in Paris I was at Le Bon Marché wandering through the Chanel boutique and came across a beautiful stone-encrusted brooch. I tried it on and contemplated buying it for nearly an hour, but ultimately could not justify the purchase. The whole day I thought about the brooch and how it would be something I could keep forever and even someday perhaps pass down to my daughter. I contemplated walking back to the store at least five times but decided because I had over a month more of travel planned I just could not afford it. Later that night in my flat while Skyping with Ryan I mentioned how much I loved the brooch. He called me back the next morning and told me that since he was not able to be in Paris with me he wanted to buy it for me. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and I feel so much joy every time I wear it on the collar of my coat, pinned to a tweed jacket, or fastened to a cashmere sweater...as looking at it always brings me right back to that magical fall day in Paris. Thank you Ryan!
The last three were all flea market treasures I found with my mom. The first are a set of four little purple glasses I got for an absolute steal {I believe they were less than $20 total}. Although one is smaller than the rest, I think it makes them that much more charming. They typically sit on our bar cart, but two weeks ago at Ryan's birthday party I found a friend using them as shot glasses. Needless to say they were quickly washed out and stored for safe keeping :)
The next is a green glass bottle hand painted with tiny gold stars. The seller told me it was used as a bedside water pitcher in the mid 1800's. Typically I have this stored on my bookshelf amongst a jumble of books and treasures, but I'm always rearranging my odds and ends so who knows where it will end up next.
Lastly is another treasure that is very close to my heart...an antique barometer that my mom and I found together. I remember we came across it and both thought it was one of the most interesting things we had seen. The glass was shattered and we had no idea how we would fix it, but we loved it anyways. The market was actually closing and the seller was packing up her booth so we had to decide which of us {if either} wanted to buy it. It was very heavy and fairly expensive {especially considering that it was broken}, so neither of us could make up our minds, but at the last minute my mom decided to go ahead and buy it. Of course, I spent the whole week regretting that I hadn't bought it and lamenting how perfect it would look at my house. My only consolation was that it was really, really heavy and I wouldn't have to lug it around Europe with me. So imagine my surprise when on Christmas morning I opened up a box with the exact same barometer, except with a brand new piece of glass, staring straight at me. My sweet mom once again surprised me {and I must add, somehow managed to bring all of our heavy and incredibly fragile flea market finds home without a scratch} and to this day the barometer sits front and center in our living room.
I know that wherever I go, my treasures from Paris will come with me, and I hope that one day I will have a home filled with meaningful pieces such as these that bring me so much happiness and joy. Have a great weekend!

Art :: LA Marquees
I recently stumbled across Parisian Océane Buret's images of LA's most famous marquees and landmarks, and am absolutely in love. The colors and typography are just beautiful, and did I mention she captured them with a simple point and shoot camera? I have still never been to LA and these photos are just that much more of a reason for me to change that.
PS - If you like old marquis signs and live in the Midwest I highly recommend a trip to the American Sign Museum. Total Americana.

Interiors :: Sarah Gray Miller's Upstate NY Home
Happy Friday dears! Today we are taking a short break from Italy photos, and instead I want to give you a little interior design inspiration. I recently came across the upstate New York home of Sarah Gray Miller, editor-in-chief of Country Living, I have to tell you that I am absolutely smitten! The color palette, mix of antique and industrial design, and her ridiculously cool collections of curiosities give it the perfect combination of elegance, whimsy, and coziness. And I love how most of her pieces are from flea markets, Craigslist, Ebay, and other budget friendly sources such as Home Goods and Home Decorators Collection. Proof that high style doesn't cost a fortune!

Snapshots
Good morning my dears! I hope your week has been absolutely fabulous so far. This past month has been a nice change of pace in that we have actually been in town for the majority of our weekends, which means plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful snow, try new restaurants, catch up with friends and family, and curl up on the couch with a cup of tea, a cozy blanket, and good book {my two most recent reads being "Atonement" and "The Great Gatsby", one of my all-time favorites that I have read at least four times}. Here's what I have been up to...
{A day of hiking around the frozen lake at Brown County State Park}
{How cute are these cupcake cookies from my mom?}
{Dinner with friends at the Skyline Club in downtown Indianapolis}
{A gorgeous snowy sunset}
{The most amazing breakfast ever from Three Sisters Cafe - corncakes with fresh blackberries, lemon curd, berry sauce, and a dollar of creme}
{Leather boots from Anthropologie with fun scallop and eyelet detailing}
{The perfect end to an amazing lunch at Olive - a scoop of Roasted Cherry Goat Cheese ice cream from Jeni's}
{Ryan surprised on Valentine's Day with a trip to Chicago for the night}
{Just discovered the amazing Midland Arts & Antiques Market in downtown Indianapolis}
{My thoughts exactly}
