The uncertainty of our living arrangements {Will we stay in Indianapolis?  If so, will we move into a different house?} has me on a total budgetary freeze when it comes to purchasing home furnishings.  But, that doesn't mean a girl can't continue to add an obscene amount of goodies to her various online shopping carts, does it?  We are in serious need of some new sheets, but because we also want to buy a new bed I definitely will be holding off until we are in a {somewhat} more permanent living situation.  I'm loving these sheets from Serena & Lily and this bed in white.  This acrylic tripod easel seems like the coolest way to display art, and speaking of I really want to get my hands on one of Max Wanger's beyond dreamy prints.  And seriously, how fun is this Acapulco chair?  Doesn't it just scream summer?  What are you dreaming about adding to your home?

Fashion :: JCrew Spring 2014

After reading Apartment 34's "Madewell vs. JCrew Showdown" yesterday, I decided to do a bit of soul searching {I kid, I kid}...which brand better represents me?   While I love Madewell's relaxed urban aesthetic, I will always be drawn to JCrew's colorful, timeless pieces with a feminine sensibility.  And I have to say, JCrew absolutely knocked it out of the park with their Spring 2014 Collection.  There are far too many pieces to choose from, but lucky for you everything in the store {including sale} is 25% off until midnight tonight with code 'HAPPYSHOPPING'.  I'm head over heels for this metallic linen slicker with gold hardware, this ladylike take the traditional oxford {how gorgeous is that collar?}, and these floral shorts.  But my favorite piece in their entire collection are these pale lavender wool-silk scalloped pants...it almost feels as though JCrew has infiltrated my brain and designed my dream pants.  So what are you, Team Madewell or Team JCrew?  Will you be scooping anything up from JCrew's Spring collection?

As you can tell, I am seriously yearning of spring.  From yesterday's round-up of pastel picks for your closet to today's post of current faves for the home...it is clear that my subconscious is desperately trying to bring some color into the endless string of cold, dreary winter days.  I'm currently dreaming about this stunning swan salt cellar {seriously, almost too pretty to use}, super soft sheets in the Pantone color of the year, an adorable succulent planter, bubble bath in the cutest floral packaging, and sitting outside in this hanging rattan chair surrounded by fresh flowers.  Are you dreaming of any treasures to spruce up your home for spring?

Fashion :: Candy Crush

pastel-outfit

Lizzie Fortunato Safari Clutch // Tiffany & Co Chalcedony Earrings // Karen Walker Pink Sunglasses // Heidi Klein Bikini // JCrew Mint Spike Necklace // Tibi Full Skirt // T By Alexander Wang Shift Dress // Salt Tasting Dish // Lollia Handcreme // Acrylic Heart Pendant // Lucite Tray // MSGM Two-Tone Top // Mint Sandal // Repetto Ballet Flats // Kate Spade iPhone Case // Elizabeth and James 'New York' T-Shirt // Emma Pencil Pouch // Bracelet // Camisole and Short // Hair Comb // Crystal Drop Earrings //  Loeffler Randall Citrus Printed Bag // Deborah Lippman Nail Polish {Tip Toe Through the Tulips} // JCrew Embellished Sweatshirt

I have always, always, always loved color.  At one point a few years ago my preference towards all things bright was so extreme that I realized I actually did not own one single piece of neutral outerwear {but I did have coats in yellow, indigo, coral, pink...}.  Since that point I have grown to appreciate neutrals {especially in the winter} and have invested in black and tweed jackets, however I know that my eye will always be drawn to pieces of the sugary-sweet variety.  Because pastels are trending in a very serious way this year, I think it is the perfect opportunity to treat myself to a few more girly chic pieces {especially this clutch, this shirt, and this swimsuit}.  Because even when they are no longer "in vogue," pastels will always have a very special place in my heart.

Interiors :: Love-ly Decor Part II

Although I am drawn to a variety of design styles {masculine, industrial, mid-century modern, etc.} when I skim through my inspiration boards I always come back to rooms with a feminine aesthetic.  It may not always be "on-trend," but I am firm believer to follow what you love versus what the latest design magazine or blog says is the current look.  As a continuation of last year's post, I have rounded up a bunch of new interior inspiration to allow you to indulge your inner girly girl.  Big hearts!

Art :: LA Marquees

I recently stumbled across Parisian OcĂ©ane Buret's images of LA's most famous marquees and landmarks, and am absolutely in love.  The colors and typography are just beautiful, and did I mention she captured them with a simple point and shoot camera?  I have still never been to LA and these photos are just that much more of a reason for me to change that.

PS - If you like old marquis signs and live in the Midwest I highly recommend a trip to the American Sign Museum.  Total Americana.

Pastel Pretties

Spring is in the air, and with it comes the need for me to break-out all of my candy-colored favorites.  I have always favored dressing like an Easter egg, so obviously I am thrilled that pastels are one of Spring 2013's biggest trends.  While I love a dark, edgy look at times in winter {I will admit it is MUCH easier to get dressed in the morning wearing mostly neutrals} I have always been drawn more towards the more airy, feminine looks.  I have picked out a few of my favorite pastel pretties for you above {and am also loving this clutch and this cardigan}.

DISCLAIMER: I am trying to teach myself Photoshop, so I apologize for the sloppy collage.  Making this little guy took me nearly two hours...fingers-crossed that I can get the hang of it!
