Happy Monday dears! This week we are going to be talking about quite possibly my favorite subject in the world - Paris. From the art to the food to the architecture to the fashion, I love every single thing about it. When I spent three weeks living in a tiny flat in Le Marais, I was absolutely amazed by how chic the women were. They truly possessed the 'je ne said quoi' that we American women fantasize about and constantly try to emulate {there are even books dedicated to the subject...a few are here, here, and here}. I also noticed that there seemed to be a strict dress code they adhered to, and can I just say I am so happy I didn't bring any of my crazy-colorful coats. I certainly don't have the magic formula, but it seemed to include:
- Skinny pants {typically black, dark denim, or leather}
- A great boot, especially booties {ALWAYS black}
- Slightly messy hair
- Gray/black/wine winter accessories such as barrets and chunky scarves
- The perfect coat {either leather or a really chic wool jacket} in black or gray
- A Louis Vuitton bag, but bonus points for Celine or Chanel
- Le cigarette {yuck!}
I pulled together a look inspired by the Parisian woman's effortless elegance {including a product to give you that perfectly imperfect messy hair}, plus more of my favorite French-inspired pieces below. Au revoir amis!

What a neat post! Parisian Style is so chic, and so simple for the most part. I love the pair of boots you have here, and the tweed jacket. Swooning over! Hope you are having a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteThe tweed jacket is spectacular! You definitely nailed the minimal Parisian look.

ReplyDeletebeautiful! I've been trying to pull off 'slightly messy hair' for years but it never comes out right. your hair looks like it might be as straight/smooth as mine, any tips on that part?
ReplyDeletehttp://6000milestohome.blogspot.com
i totally get where you're coming from allie. my hair is what my friends lovingly call "baby hair"...it is silky smooth and straight but flat as can be :) honestly, i always find it easier in the winter pulling off the messy look because my hair is always a bit more dry and damaged and looks good the second/third day {as opposed to in the summer when if i don't wash it every day it looks like a grease monkey}. but as far as products/techniques i love bumble & bumble's surf spray...sometimes i will spray it on my hair and twist into a loose bun before bed and in the morning have a nice texture to it. but to be honest, i'm not sure if i will ever truly be able to achieve "the perfect bed head" :)
ReplyDeletethanks so much for the tips! I haven't tried the bun-before bed with salt spray, I'll give that a whirl. maybe we'll never get there completely, but we'll keep trying ;)
