If you follow me on Instagram you probably already know that we recently traveled to Paris and Amsterdam over the New Year. It was a spontaneous trip which I think could actually be the best kind! I had about a month to plan everything from our flights to our transportation to our accommodations, which was surprisingly a lot easier than I had excepted {one of the many perks of traveling in the “off season}.
While researching hotels in Amsterdam I was immediately surprised at what a great value they were. We knew we wanted to be inside of Amsterdam’s central canal ring so that we could easily get around on foot, and that we wanted a view of the canals from our window. We looked at several hotels but ultimately decided on the hip beyond hip Hoxton Hotel. The hotel is located on the beautiful Herengracht Canal in the picturesque De 9 Straatjes neighborhood. Within a ten minute walk were dozens of fantastic independent restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and bars. Within the first 30 minutes of exploring our neighborhood we were daydreaming about how we could somehow figure out a way to move there – that was how much we loved Amsterdam.
Made up of 5 canal houses, the Hoxton was previously the 17th century home of the Mayor of Amsterdam. The first floor featured a restaurant and coffee and cocktail den that was filled with chic locals from morning to night. Fun details included an old school photo booth, a rotating art exhibiton {which featured Karen Rosetzsky’s gorgeous “Young Love” photography} , and breakfast bags delivered to our rooms every morning with fresh squeezed orange juice, fruit, yogurt, and granola. I was a little under the weather during our time in Amsterdam so unfortunately I was a little off my photography game, so I cheated and pulled these images from the hotel’s website. We absolutely LOVED staying at the Hoxton and couldn’t recommend it enough!
