Travel :: Our St. Maarten Villa

It's safe to say that our family vacation to St. Maarten was absolutely perfect.  So perfect in fact, that I'm suffering from a serious case of post-vacation blues.  One of the best parts of our trip was the gorgeous villa we rented for the week - La Croisette.  The open-air villa featured a huge pool overlooking the ocean and the island of St. Bart's in the distance.  I loved the coastal chic decor and framed antique prints scattered across the house.  Our king-sized four poster bed with it's silky French Linens was one of the more comfortable I have ever slept in, and waking up to a view of the Caribbean from our French Doors wasn't bad either.

The property itself was absolutely stunning...green, lush, and filled with colorful flowers.  The biggest surprise?  We shared the house with Max, the sweetest senior rescue dog.  Having him there made our trip that much more special and made it not quite as hard for me to be away from Yoda.  It's safe to say that when we had to say goodbye to Max I cried more than a few tears.

Our days consisted of eating freshly delivered croissants by the pool, floating on rafts for hours on end, reading, drinking too many cocktails, eating lots and lots of brie, napping in the hammock, and all-in-all just relaxing.  In the afternoons if we felt like exploring we'd hop in our car to visit one of the many surrounding beaches.  One morning when everyone else went deep sea fishing my stepsister Meredith and I decided to have a masseuse come to the villa and give us massages by the pool.  It was pure bliss!

On the nights we didn't feel like eating out we cooked dinner in La Croisette's beautiful kitchen.  My favorite meal was white wine snapper with grilled vegetables and pasta with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil {and of course, lots of Sauvignon Blanc}.  We dined at a large wooden table outside by the pool and afterwards laid out on the lawn chairs and stared up at the glittering night sky.
